On the 28th and 29th of June, 2022, UNICEF Nigeria Team comprising of: Dr. Ifeyinwa Anyanyo (Health Specialist), Juliet Chiluwe (Chief of Field Office, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo (Executive Governor of Anambra State), Mathias Schmale (UN Resident Coordinator), & Mareen Zubie-Okolo (Planning & Monitoring Specialist) led by Victor Atuchukwu (Child Protection Specialist), UNIECF Enugu field office.

The Team paid a visit to the Deputy Governor of Imo State His Excellency, Prof. Placid Njoku (representing the Governor), His Excellency; Executive Governor of Anambra State; Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Chairman of Traditional Council and Community Policing, Imo State – Eze Imo; Dr. Emmanuel C. Okeke,) Paramount Traditional Ruler of Awka Ancient Kingdom; Eze Uzu II – Obi Gibson Nwosu, and Chief of Staff to the Anambra State Government; Ernest Ezeajughi.

Some great value and voice added to the urgent need for improved and sustained government commitment to the welfare of children and women in Imo state and Anambra state, including on the child protection front was the agenda for discussion.

After the discussions; UNICEF Resident Coordinator beautifully decorated them with the No-to-FGM lapel pins as a symbol that they have officially joined the Movement for Good to End Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Nigeria. We hope for the best of outcomes.
